how do you take silica out of the water?

Depends on how much you have and the application..........Anoin exchange, nano, RO, chem treat etc...

Whats the application and how much are u dealing with ?

Thats what I thought. someone told me that you can' get it out using anion and I wanted to make sure.

Weak Base Anion resin will NOT remove silica. Only Stong Base Anion in the hydroxyl form can be relied on to address silica.

To remove silica from the SBA resin during regeneration, the silica has to de-polymerize, solubilize, ionize and elute. The first steps are relatively slow and require significant energy. As a result, extended contact time and higher temperatures during regeneration help to remove silica from resin.

When achieving low silica leakages is the goal, Type I SBA resins should be used, since they can be regenerated at the high temperatures necessary to elute silica from resin.


Have you performed a water analysis ?

What levels of silica are acceptable in the effluent stream ?
