Soft Water in Utah - Salt Lake City and Provo

The economy caught up with us we moved from Mesquite up to the big city, Salt Lake City ! We will stay here for about 3 years and then move down to Provo Utah. I noticed that we have hard water here

I have questions:

Where is the best deal on a good water softener?
Should I try a salt-free softener?
Do I need a drinking filter?
Do most softener companies up here move systems for free?
