Hello,
i am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the CWS exam. I have all my study material form the WQA and have been studying the material. Can anyone give me some specifics on what i should expect on the exam and are there a lot of mathematical equations that i should be studying. I know the equations for the amount of hardness from an acid neutralizer, how to properly size a water softener, the conversion from milligrams per liter to grains per gallon, and how to size a softener to remove ferrous iron. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you.

Hi Tyler

Welcome aboard !

There are currently six CWS exams. Most people find the first to be the toughest. If you have at least 2-3 years of experience in the industry, and read through the prescribed tectbooks at least once, you'll pass without too much trouble at all.

The math in the CWS-1 test is very simple. I remember qustions about capacity calculations, flow-loss through a length of pipe and pressure gain after'x' feet of drop. - Very simple stuff.

When are you taking the test ?

Greg,
thank you for the reply. I plan on taking the exam as soon as i think i'm ready.I will take it through a proctor. I have to study a little mor on RO and different resin types but i think i may be doing a little over studying. I know the difference between cation and anion resins and what they will and wont remove based on the charge of the ion.I have a good understanding of hardness leakage, proper regeneration, cocurrent and contercurrent flow. I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding weak base and strong base resins. Maybe i should just take it and see what happens.

Thanks for your help!

It sounds like you're well on your way to aceing it !

Feel free to post any question that you have about SBA, WAC etc... or anything else that you'd like help or guidance on.

There are a few of us here that have gone through it before & would be very happy to help you succeed.
