I ran across acustomer the otherday who wanted there system serviced meaning water softner and iron filter. When I checked there hardness settings the digital screen said NA instead of 5 or 15 grains of hardness. When I looked at the owners manual it said that if the NA display is on in place of a hardness reading it is because its being used as a filter. The brand said Knight wich Ive never seen before. What and why are they using a softner as a filter?
Along with this the entire system was not plumbed correctly. The system was only filtering the hot water side instead of the whole house. There plumbing system has to be redone wich is ok by me because thats what Im for.
Also when you service an iron system what do you do to service it beside adding black patasium?
I could offer to install a puregaurd injector for there softner! thanks for your help.

Never heard of Knight either. Can you describe the controller ?
How many buttons, color of display ?
Does the manual have a manufacturers name or address ?
It might not be a softener as a filter, just a softener-style control with filtration media. Does their softener tank look the same ?
A lot of retards do hot only installations, plumb the whole house soft if you can.
If the iron filter uses permanganate, you should periodically rinse the permanganate tank (about every 24 months) to remove insolubles.
Also clean the injector with a little pur-gard once a year to keep it free from iron buildup.
Pur-gard would be good for their softener too, start with a qt. as a shock treatment and then use a wick feeder.

Yes Ion Avenger . There are alot of retards out there and it is our task (though difficult) to seek them out and educate them.
Greg after doing some more research of my own I found out they are a company called Water International Inc. Bolth units do look alot alike. The water softner does use salt.and Iron filter black patasuim. I have model numbers if you need them.
Thanks..... and now I'm off! to go educate a retard. up up and away

That link is dead, I presume these are the same guys:- http://www.waterresourcesintl.com/
I didn't see their iron filter listed on their site.
What did the valve on the iron filter look like, was it like the one on the Hydraquad ?

I'm don't like the product or their tech support. I had to help a customer with one of their systems about a month ago and it was absolute hell trying to get technical answers from the factory. IMHO they're not worth it at all.
